Le Boat operates the world's largest fleet of river and canal houseboats available for weekly or short-break rental (minimum 2 nights) across 18 destinations in 9 countries. Boats sleep between 2 and 12 people and are organized into three tiers: Premier (modern, high-end); Comfort (mid-range, well-equipped); and Value (simpler, budget-friendly). The company operates seasonal bases from April to October.

First-time boaters make up most customers. All renters receive a mandatory pre-departure briefing and boat-handling demonstration at the base before departure; no boat license is required for most destinations, though Germany issues temporary permits after briefing. The company has operated since 1969 and claims over 55 years of experience.

Booking is available online or by phone. Standard terms include a 25% deposit with the balance due later, flexible rescheduling at no charge, and a Lowest Price Guarantee promising refunds if rates drop. Extras and upgrades are available. Dogs are welcome for an additional cleaning fee (maximum two per boat), and family-friendly boats with minimal stairs are marketed separately. One-way routes are available alongside return-trip options from the same base.

Le Boat also operates a Boat Ownership Program where buyers lease boats back to the company for managed charter, and sells pre-owned former fleet boats.
