Shurgard operates a network of self-storage facilities across Germany, offering individual storage units in multiple sizes. Units range from 1 to 30 square metres and can be used for private storage (house moves, renovations, furniture storage, travel) or commercial purposes (business records, tools, equipment, last-mile delivery, multi-site storage).

Renting a unit involves finding an appropriate size through their online tool, reserving or booking online, and then using the storage space. There is no minimum rental period—contracts are described as fully flexible. Customers can access their unit using their own padlock and key, with access available daily. The company offers introductory pricing starting from €1 for the first month on selected units. Beyond the monthly rental, costs include a padlock, insurance (available through Marsh or third-party providers), and an administration fee.

Facilities feature surveillance cameras, perimeter fencing, alarm systems, and app-based access control. Shurgard also sells moving boxes and offers temporary storage options. Payment and account management can be handled through their mobile app, which also controls gate access.
