Bicing is Barcelonas public bike-sharing system with 7000+ bikes at 500+ stations across the city since 2007.
Bicing is a bike-sharing system operated by the Barcelona municipal government, offering access to a network of over 8,000 bicycles distributed across more than 550 stations throughout Barcelona. The service is open to the public on a membership basis. Users register through the SMOU mobile app, activate the Bicing service, select a subscription tier, and receive a Bicing card by mail. Bikes are reserved and picked up via the app, which also shows real-time availability of bicycles and parking spaces at each station. Members can return bikes to any station in the network. The subscription model is the only rental option available; there is no casual, per-trip or visitor rental option mentioned on the website. The service includes a gamification element called Joc Bicing, where regular users earn points for rides that can be redeemed for rewards. Members also receive discounts through a loyalty program covering health, ecology and sustainability-related products and services.
