Velib Paris

Velib is Paris's official bike-sharing system covering 1,400+ stations and 20,000+ bikes including e-bikes across Paris and surrounding municipalities.

Vélib' Métropole operates a bike-sharing system in the Greater Paris region with 20,500 bicycles available at 1,500 stations. The fleet consists of both mechanical bikes and electric bikes (40% of total), coloured blue, which provide pedal assistance at speeds up to 25 km/h. Each bike is fitted with an electronic lock mechanism at the handlebar. Users access bikes either by card for subscribers or by entering credentials on a keypad for short-term pass holders. The service offers short-term passes valid for 1 or 3 days, as well as annual subscription options. Bikes can be paused during a ride by passing a card over the electronic box, which locks the front wheel, and users can secure the bike temporarily using the integrated cable lock. Users can also return bikes to full "Station +" locations if their preferred station is at capacity. The system is accessible via a mobile app for iOS and Android, and users can view station availability and bike locations on the service's online map.
