Vel'OK Esch

Vel'OK is the public bike-sharing service in Esch-sur-Alzette Luxembourgs second largest city.

Vël'Ok Régional is a free public bike-sharing service operated by CIGL (Centre d'Initiative et de Gestion Local), a non-profit organisation based in Esch-sur-Alzette. The service provides access to electric bicycles across nine southern Luxembourg municipalities: Esch-sur-Alzette, Bettembourg, Differdange, Dudelange, Rumelange, Kayl, Sanem, Mondercange, and Schifflange.

Registration is free and can be done online or at one of nine registration points, including the main office at 54 rue Louis Pasteur in Esch-sur-Alzette (open Monday to Friday 9am–6pm, Saturday 10am–2pm). After registration, users receive a Vël'Ok card to access bicycles from any of the 150 stations. To rent, users tap their card on a station dock and the bike releases; to return, they simply place the bike back in any station's docking bay.

Users must be at least 14 years old. Each rental is limited to 2 hours maximum, with a maximum basket capacity of 5kg. One person per bike, and respect for traffic laws is required. The website recommends wearing a helmet. The project combines sustainable mobility with job insertion and professional reintegration, supported by the nine partner municipalities and Luxembourg's Ministry of Economy.
