CUMA Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

CUMA Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes is the regional CUMA federation for mountain farming and livestock in central-eastern France.

CUMA Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes is the regional federation (FRCuma) representing multiple local CUMA cooperatives across the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. CUMA groups are agricultural cooperatives where farmers pool resources to jointly own and operate farm machinery and equipment, reducing individual costs through shared ownership and rental arrangements. Member farmers access tractors, planters, sprayers, hay-making equipment, and other agroequipment as needed, often with dedicated employees to maintain and operate the machinery.

The federation provides services and support to member CUMA groups rather than operating directly as a rental service. It offers training for farmer-members and CUMA employees, technical demonstrations and field days, economic and mechanisation diagnostics, and digital tools to help groups manage equipment booking, accounting, and work scheduling. Based in Lyon, the federation covers the broader Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region and works on issues spanning equipment economics, agricultural ecology, generational renewal in farming, and employment practices within CUMA structures.
