CUMA Occitanie

CUMA Occitanie is the regional CUMA federation covering cereal vineyard and southern French farming.

CUMA Occitanie is the Fédération Régionale des Cuma d'Occitanie, which coordinates a network of agricultural machinery-sharing cooperatives across the Occitanie region. CUMAs are cooperative associations that allow member farmers to jointly own and share agricultural equipment including mechanisation tools, harvesting machinery, and soil preparation equipment, reducing individual purchase and operating costs. The federation provides support services to member cooperatives, including strategic advice on machinery investment (with a regional guide to machinery operating costs), training programmes for farmers and employees, digital tools for managing equipment and investments, and coordinating grants and subsidised purchases through group buying schemes. Farmers join a local Cuma cooperative to access shared machinery on a membership basis rather than renting on a per-use basis. The federation operates across the Occitanie region and supports approximately two-thirds of farmers in the area through its member cooperatives. Beyond equipment sharing, the network also supports agroecological transition, precision agriculture adoption, renewable energy initiatives, and employment within agricultural cooperatives.
